As a dedicated community leader and advocate, Director Quattlebaum has spent nearly four years on the Denver School Board working to create a school system that truly serves all students—especially those in historically impacted communities. She believes every child deserves a high-quality education, and that means addressing inequities, expanding opportunities, and fostering inclusive, culturally responsive learning environments.

Highest Graduation Rate in History
Since Director Quattlebaum was elected the graduation rate has increased to the highest in DPS history.

Universal Dyslexia Screening
In 2021 Director Quattlebaum co-sponorsed the resolution to mandate universal dyslexia screening for all kids.

Raised The Minimum Wage
Director Quattlebaum was a leading voice to raise the minimum wage to $20 an hour for all hourly employees.

Meet Michelle Quattlebaum
Director Michelle Quattlebaum is a non-indigenous native of Colorado, wife, and mother of three DPS graduates. She specializes in addressing communication barriers, building relationships, and forging unique ally partnerships. Michelle holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication, focused on Intercultural Communications, and a Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership, specializing in Human Resource Performance. Through intentional and creative coaching, Michelle has successfully motivated individuals to achieve their personal and professional goals. Inspiring change and continued self-growth in others have also been achieved through story sharing and creative inclusive workshops.
Through sharing and hearing educational stories, Michelle became a dedicated champion for students and their families regarding access to quality educational options. Healthy learning environments begin with creating a space of emotional, social, and intellectual safety. Michelle’s passion, extensive experience and expertise in intersectionality disrupts the inequitable systems and structures hindering success for all students.
Recognizing every family has a unique set of needs, she is dedicated to creating and supporting community, staff, and student programs focused on increasing culturally responsive education and engagement. Michelle understands and respects the need for diverse learning opportunities. Representing the DPS Shared Core Values she appreciates a community of empowerment and collective accountability begins with collaboration, purpose, and diversity.
